Playing with Transparencies
A Help Page by Mary

This is not my creation - it probably was something I got from a yahoo group and decided to try to copy it. Here is the original.

Choose an image and grab a color from it. This is the image I chose. I resized it to about 200 or 250.
For printers' convenience, the url is http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_3/wave_hi_keep.gif. I chose a brown and the rgb colors are 115 77 67.

Go to Image Magick and make a 300x300 white blank.
Click draw at the top and choose rectangle in the menu.
The numbers will be 34,14 230,165
In the color slot, put this--
rgba(115,77,67,0.30)
Click draw.

Click draw at the top and put these numbers in the slot--
90,81 294,229
In the color slot, put this--
rgba(115,77,67,0.60) Click draw.
(Note - The smaller the decimal, the lighter the transparency.)

To find the positions for the circles, I used point and click. I pointed and clicked the center of each circle and also any spot on the circle. These two sets of numbers will make a circle.

Click Draw at the top and choose Circle from the menu.
Here are the numbers and rgba numbers for the seven circles.

(1) 194,181 154,185     rgba(255,255,255,0.40
(2) 190,149 170,149     rgba(255,255,255,0.30)
(3) 190,97 178,97     rgba(255,255,255,0.30)
(4) 214,57 206,57     rgba(255,255,255,0.30)
(5) 58,67 106,63     rgba(255,255,255,0.70)
(6) 70,82 94,85     rgba(255,255,255,0.90)
(7) 118,0 90,14     rgba(255,255,255,0.40)

Composite your image wherever you choose.

Here's my finished image--
