Make an Append Frame
A Help Page by Mary

Years ago, BeeDiana showed us how to make a circle using distort. Thanks, Diana!! Here is a good tute for using Append when you output.

You will not be able to do this append if you have the webbywarehouse. The other servers should work fine.

After you complete the append and upload the finished image to your own server, please go back and delete your uploads at Arbor.

Here is the pumpkin I used.
For printers' convenience, the url is http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_3/lil_punkin.gif

Take the pumpkin to IM and rotate it to the left and output.

Make a directory at your server and name it append.

Upload the pumpkin to the directory and name it 1.gif.

Upload the same pumpkin six more times and name them 2.gif, 3.gif, 4.gif, etc. etc. (Seven pumpkins)

Click on 1.gif and go to the Image Center or IM. Remove the 1.gif from the url. The url in the slot should look like this---http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_3/"

Immediately, output as a gif, choose append and check the box at the bottom for "reset page geometry".

You should have a tall image of seven pumpkins.

Rotate that image to the right. It will look like this.

Either output it or carry it in your memory.

Go to IM and make a transparent blank that is 777x33. This is three times the width of the pumpkins.

Composite the pumpkins +0+0 and Northwest.

Composite the pumpkins +0+0 and North.

Composite the pumpkins +0+0 and Northeast.

Click F/X at the top, put 360 in the slot, and then choose "distort".

Under Distort Type, choose Arc.

Under Virtual Pixel Method, choose Transparent.

Under Channel, choose All. Click effect.

You will see 1/4 of the circle. Output as a gif, single file, and you will see the whole circle.

Note:Thanks, Lenora, for this tip. I tried it and it worked great. When you use distort, go down and check the box for "reset page geometry" and you will see the whole circle instead of just 1/4 of the circle.

I composited mine on a white background.

Here are some samples made with a snowflake dingbat.
Sample 1
Sample 2
Sample 3
Sample 4 This was a quilt block and I used append. I uploaded the vertical stack of blocks three times into a directory. I took it to IM and output using append but checked the line down below for horizontal.

Note: If you put your frame on a colored background and want to matte out the center, it is best to draw a line through the center of the long line before going to F/X. For instance, the line through my line of pumpkins would be 0,16 777,16.
