A Moving Experience

A Practice Page for Using Offset Numbers

A Help Page by Mary

This is a copy of a post in our group about changing the offset numbers to move an image horizontally or vertically when you're filling a mask.

This image is not a good one for the sanddollar but it's just practice. No need to upload.

Take this mask to Image Magick---

Click composite at the top and put this url in the slot line.

The background is transparent and the sanddollar is a solid color so you would use "in" in the drop-down menu. (This also works if the background is solid and the sanddollar is transparent. You would then use dstover.)

Leave +0+0 and Center and check your image.
Then use -20-20
Then +20+20
Then -20+20
Then -30-30

(Note----Minus 30 on the right number moves the image too far up and you will see the straight edge on the bottom.

Try different numbers. Notice how you can move your image around. When you see a straight side, you've gone too far in that direction.

When you use Center ---
Minus on the left number moves it to the left. Plus on the left number moves it to the right.

Minus on the right number moves it upwards. Plus on the right number moves it down.
