Using Draw to Frame an Image

A Help Page by Mary

I loved this sig when I saw it and asked the gal if I could have permission to try to draw it. She graciously gave me permission. Thanks, Dixie Dumplin!!!

Select a small image and get two shades of color from the image.
Make a 320x320 black blank.
Choose Draw at the top and then choose Path in the menu.
Put these numbers in the slot.
M4,160 160,4 316,160 160,316 4,160
Put the darker color in for the fill.
Press Draw.

Choose Draw at the top and then choose Rectangle in the menu.
Put these numbers in the slot.
56,60 264,260
Put the lighter color in for the fill.
Press Draw.

Choose Draw at the top and then choose Rectangle in the menu.
Put these numbers in the slot.
84,92 236,228
Put honeydew or a light off-color in for fill.
Press Draw.

Matte out the center rectangle.

Composite a small image in the center.

Output as a gif and take to Dave's shadow tool. Put the url in the top slot and rename it in the next slot. I left everything else the same.

Take that url to Image Magick and remove 18 pixels from the right side and from the bottom.
To do this, click transform at the top.
In the slot put -18+0 and click crop.
Check "reset page geometry" at the bottom. In the slot put +0-18 and click crop.

Choose some pretty corners and composite one NW. I then used transform and flop, flip, flop, flip---in that order to composite the other corners on. The same corners can be resized smaller and composited on the smaller rectangles if desired.

Here is my finished image.

Here are four examples that Shirley made. She used a fill for the first one and some outlining.
Example 1

Example 2
This is the way Shirley put together Example 2. Matte out the background and output as a gif. Back up to the image with the background and resize about 30. Composite the original gif over. Resize to the original size.

Example 3
This was resized 30 and then image composited.

Example 4
This was resized 60 and then image composited.

Neat ideas and nice jobs, Shirley!!
