A Simple Composite
By Mary
First, let's discuss the off-set numbers. These will always be measured from the Northwest corner. If the offset numbers would be +50+100, this means that the place on the image would be 50 pixels from the left and 100 pixels from the top.
If the offset numbers would be +100+50, this would mean that the place on the image would be 100 pixels from the left and 50 pixels from the top.
The left number moves the image horizontally and the right number moves the image vertically.
Here is the cardinal that we will be using.
For printers' convenience, the url is http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_2/Cardinal_keep.gif.
Use your go-to and show current to get the url and jot it down on paper for later use.
Click on this wreath picture and get it on the screen.
The url is http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_2/wreath_keep.gif
Use your go-to and show current to get the url in the slot. Hit Cmd+a to hi-lite the url, Cmd+c to copy the url. Hit your back key once. Now, hit your "find" key and Cmd+v to copy that url into the find key. Hit your back key once. Your url will stay there until you need it.
Get this fence picture on the screen.
The url for the fence is http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_2/fence_keep.gif.
Hit your f-key for your Image Center. Your picture should be there waiting for you. Go
to Image Magick.
On the first page, scroll down to your image and click on it. Move the arrow to where you want the wreath to hang, preferably on the third post. Click there.
On the next page, scroll down below the picture and jot down the first two numbers under the picture. My numbers were +82+36.
Go to the top and click
on composite.
Hit your "find" key where the url for the wreath is. Cmd+a to hi-lite the url and Cmd+c to copy the url. Go down to the slot and Cmd+v to paste the url in the slot.
Put your offset numbers in the slot and click on Northwest. Click composite.
This is where you start "tweaking" the numbers.
If the wreath isn't just where you want it, hit your back button and change the numbers. My wreath was a little too far to the left so I changed my numbers to +90+30.
Here's my fence, so far.

Now for the little bird. Again, click on your picture, move the arrow to where you think the bird should be and click. On the next page, look for the first two numbers below the picture. My numbers were +18+28. Jot these numbers down. Go to the top and click on composite. Type the url of the red bird in the slot. (If you get a stop sign, you probably have a typo.) Put your two numbers in the off-set slot and use Northwest. Click composite.
I had to tweak my numbers to move the bird to where I wanted it. Remember, the left number will move the bird horizontally and the right number will move the bird vertically. I finally decided on +12+35. Your numbers might be different.
This is my finished picture.

Look through the many Christmas sites and find other decorations to composite. Maybe a snowman or a little animal.
I hope you have fun with this tutorial and enjoy it. :-)
