Customizing Oval or Circle Frames
A Help Page by Mary

I don't claim to be the originator of this method----this page is just written to hopefully help those that want to customize a frame. This method will help figure your numbers.

Here is a beautiful basket of pansies. For printers' convenience, the url is http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_2/pansies_basket_keep.gif. I have composited it on a large white blank. The url is http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_2/pansies_basket_500_keep.jpg.

Take the image to Image Magick.
Click on the image to activate the arrow.
(You can draw diagonal lines from corner to corner to find the exact center of your image or you can try eyeballing it.)

Put the arrow at the center of your image and then move it to the left to where you want the edge of your oval to be. Click.

On the next page, look under the image and write the first number down. (There are two numbers and the first one is the distance from the left. The second number is the distance from the top which we don't need right now.)

The center of a 500x500 blank is 250. The number I got is 78. Subtract 78 from 250 and you get 172 which is the distance from the center to the edge of the oval.

Activate the arrow again, go to the center and move the arrow upward to where you want the top of your oval to be, and click.

Look under the image and write down the second number. That number is the distance from the top. I got 74. Subtract that number from 250 and I got 176.
(If you want more of an oval shape, move the arrow closer to the top.)

You now have 172 for the left and 176 for the top.

Click on draw at the top and choose Ellipse.

In the number slot, you will put +250+250 +172+176 +0+360. The first numbers are the center of the blank.
Delete the fill color and use #9c8c59 (gold color) for the stroke color. The width could be 2.

If you want a double line so that you can matte it out and use a fill, activate the arrow and move it to the left to where you want the width of your line to be. Mine was 58 which is 20 less than my first click.

So for my second line, I used
+250+250 +152+156 +0+360

You can matte out this frame and use a fill of your choice.

Here's the result of mine
