Cropping at Image Magick
Cropping at Image Magick
A Help Page by Mary
There are various methods to crop at Image Magick. This is the method I've been using. It works good for me!
We will crop the Easter basket from this sheet. (For printers' convenience, here is the url---http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_2/Bunnie_sheet_2.gif.
Take the image to Image Magick. On the first page, click on the image. Move the yellow arrow to the upper left hand corner of the basket and click. On the next page, write down the first two numbers. Mine were 0 and 17. I labeled them L.
Click on the image again and move the yellow arrow to the lower right hand corner of the basket and click. On the next page, write down the first two numbers. Mine were 221 and 327.
I labeled them R.
Click transform at the top. If the dimensions of your image aren't in the status bar, reboot. The dimensions should be 559x673.
In the slot put 559x673+221+327 which are the R numbers. Choose "chop", scroll down to miscellaneous options and checkmark the box, and click transform.
Click transform at the top. Your new dimensions should be in the status bar and should be 221x327. In the slot, put 221x327+0+17 which are the L numbers. Choose "crop", and click transform.
Here is the result. We have a piece of another image on the side which we'll get rid of.
To make it easier to work with, I add a little space to the sides.
Click decorate at the top. Put 50x in the slot and transparent in the color slot and choose border. Click decorate.
Go below the image to the Paint Options. Choose floodfill, color and I used fill color of #999999 but you can use any light color that ISN'T in your image. Click on the outside part of your image. If it doesn't fill in good enough, try 5555 in the fuzz slot.
Do the same point and click method for the upper left hand and lower right hand of the piece of image. My numbers are 260 and 66 for the Left, and 280 and 123 for the Right.
Click draw at the top. Choose rectangle in the menu. Put your left and right numbers in the slot like this----+260+66 +280+123. Put #999999 in the fill color and click draw.
Go to the paint options under the image. Choose floodfill, matte, and none. Click on the colored outside part of your image.
Click on transform at the top and choose trim.
Here's your pretty easter basket. For printers' convenience, the url is http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages_2/2nd_crop_basket.gif.
This was an easy one to fix. Sometimes you might need to do more than one rectangle to cover the piece of image. Try one of the other images on the Easter sheet. :-)
