Addenda to Assignment 2

Circle Illustration

A Help Page by Mary

This is an illustration to go with Assignment 2 which should more fully explain the numbers and placement of a circle on a 200x200 blank.

Each square equals 10. Find the red dot. Count the squares from the left side of the graph to the dot. There are 14 squares. 14x10=140.

Count the squares from the red dot upward to the top edge of your graph square. There are 7 squares. 7x10=70. Therefore the middle of your circle will be +140+70.

Now count the squares from the red dot to the left edge of the circle. There are 5 squares. 5x10=50. The distance from the center to each side of a circle is the same. Therefore the second set of numbers would be +50+50.

Click Draw at the top and choose ellipse in the menu. Use a fill color or stroke color or both.

The numbers to make this circle would be +140+70 +50+50 +0+360.

Try moving the center of a circle to another part of the graph. Count the squares from the left and from the top of your graph paper. Then count the squares from the center to the edge of your circle.
