Let's Play With Dingbats

A Help Page by Mary

There have been many tutorials written about using dingbats. This is just my interpretation and written for my own benefit. If this helps anyone, I'm glad.

Here is a charset. Each kitty represents a letter of the alphabet--both big and little letters. The top line would be Aa Bb Cc and Dd. And so on through the rest of the alphabet.

Count off the letters to the one that you want and jot that letter down. I have picked the small "e" for this exercise.

The url is at the bottom of the charset. You can copy this and carry it in your find key or jot it down. Here is the link.

Go to Image Magick and make a 400x100 white blank.

Click annotate at the top.
Put your letter in the text box. I put e.

Offset Numbers would be +0+0 and West for gravity.
Color ~~ black.
Point Size ~~ 90
Copy the ttf url from your find key and paste it into the font slot under the font box.
Click annotate.

Now, click transform at the top of the page and select "flop".
Click transform. Your kitty will be on the right side of your blank, now.

Go to the top and click annotate. The settings will all be the same. Click annotate.

If you want to annotate text in the middle of this blank, see my Help Page for Offset Numbers. I used +0+10 and Center.

Here's my finished image.
