How To Use a Gold Fill
A Help Page by Mary
There have been many tutorials written on how to use a gold fill. This is merely a transcription of my notes. Hopefully, it will help someone make pretty gold designs.
We will be filling a pretty decoration from this charset with a gold fill. For the printer*s convenience, here is the url. http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages/Orn_Dec_charset.jpg. This charset is all small letters of the alphabet. Count them off like this---Top line is a,b,c,d. Second line is e,f,g,h and so on through the alphabet. Find the decoration you like and count it off to see which letter it is.
Go to Image Magick and make a white blank 350x200.
On the next page, scroll below the image to the paint options. Choose floodfill, color and mistyrose. Click on the image, and click the arrow.
On the next page, click annotate at the top. In the text box, put the letter of the decoration that you would like to have. I chose the letter "x". Offset numbers will be +0+0 and gravity will be center. Color will be gray. Point size will be 80.
In the font slot below the font box, put this font http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages/OrnamentalDecoration.ttf Click annotate.
Scroll below the image to the paint options. Choose floodfill, matte and none. Click on the image and move the yellow arrow to anyplace on the design and click.
Go to the top and click composite. In the slot, put this http://www.wtv-zone.com/Kitkat3l/Help_Pages/gold2.jpg Scroll down to the menu and choose Dstover. Scroll on down and check the tiling box at the bottom. Back up to the middle and click composite.
Go below the image and put 5555 in the fuzz box, Replace, Matte and none for the color. Click on the background of your image to make it transparent.
Click transform at the top of the page, choose "trim", scroll down and check the box. Click transform.
Output as single file and gif. Upload to your server.
Here*s my filled decoration.
When you*re making this decoration, try different letters in the text box.

Here*s a pretty example made by Tre using the letter "g" from the above charset.

She states:
"After I composited IN the gold, REPLACED the transparent to maroon color, then did FLOODFILL to make the BG transparent again. That way it colored the inside of the leaf and berries."
