For this April, 2006, interview, Crystal was radiantly beautiful. She was wearing her own clothes, instead of the unflattering things Guiding Light dresses her in, so you could tell what a lovely figure she actually has, as well.




She is now living on the central coast of California in a small town between Los Angeles and San Francisco, four blocks from the beach. She flies to New York once a week to work, and reads or sleeps on the plane. She attributes her move to California for the light streaks in her hair.


She is studying for a contractors license, as she and her husband, Michael Sabatino (Vince Russo, GL) are in the home renovation business. (Currently, they are designing their own Tuscan-themed house and are hiring an architect.) She is the one who picks the houses for renovation and resale. However, she said she will always act, and her husband is now working on "Passions." She said her best role, though, is MOM. Jake is almost six, and Dylan is two and a half. She said she likes Olivia's internet name of "Holivia" because "that's what she is." She said she always wanted to be on a soap as an actor. She likes the circumstances, the melodrama, how big things get. She likes that they shoot a show and move on, no sitting around waiting like on a movie or prime time set.

Asked about the rumors that she had tried to leave Guiding Light for One Life to Live, she explained in detail. She had just renewed with GL, with special circumstances she declined to elaborate on, when she was invited to join OLTL. Since they hadn't been writing for Olivia at GL, she asked to be released, but they had something planned for her. "It was a timing issue, more than anything." She was flattered that two shows wanted her at the same time.


Asked how she chose her Emmy nomination scenes, she said if the scenes touched her, and she can feel something, and forget superficials like her hair or whatever, it's good. These are also signs of a good script. It should be effortless when you are doing it.
