Crystal Chappell was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. The family moved so often, about once every two years, that Crystal joked that it was like they committed some crime and were on the run.

Lonely, never able to stay with new friends, Crystal retreated into make-believe, using her imagination to create her own world. She wanted to be a Nancy Drew. Crystal is to the right in the photo on the right.

She watched soaps with her grandmother, who was partial to Days of Our Lives. One day, her grandmother, who had become ill, looked at her and told her she would one day be on that show. She died about eight months later.
