This is the story of a song, and the influence of a daytime drama. The song is "Unbelievable," written and sung by Kaci Brown. It was her first single, and in her debut album, "Instigator." The drama is Guiding Light.
In 2005, when Guiding Light was building their Jonathan/Tammy love story, Kaci Brown was a relatively unknown, bubbly 17-year-old singer and songwriter. GL used her track of "Unbelievable" for the young lovers' theme song. It began each time the lovers saw one another. It was playing all during the scenes of the aftermath of Tammy and Sandy's wedding, where Jonathan claimed Tammy as his. Then on Soap Talk, the scenes were shown during Kaci's performance of the song.
Kaci found out about her song being so important to GL when she returned from touring and found posts about it on her website. Her record company knew about it, but she didn't. She was very thrilled and excited.
She breathlessly told about performing at Dylan's Candy Shop in New York, and two fans telling her they had driven for 6 hours to see her. She thought that was very sweet, and asked them how they had ever heard of her. They told her they watch Guiding Light.
