This was fun. In May of 2006 MTV did a "True Life" episode called "I'm Getting My Big Break." It featured Alexandra Chando, who plays Maddie on ATWT, and followed her for several months as she got hired and began working on the show. The only problem with the MTV production was that two subjects, Alex and The Rock and Roll Soldiers, were intertwined for the hour. It would be more enjoyable to have your subject all together.

Anyway, Alex's story started with her telling us she lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and is almost 19. She said she started acting at around the age of 7.



She was in plays in middle school and high school, auditioning for everything. She went to Manhattan College in New York City, but took off a semester to audition for roles.

Her audition for ATWT was for the role of "Mia" and she thought she did a horrible job. However, she was called back to be Maddie.



Her friends have a humorous "fan club" for her.



Next we saw Alex trying to learn 15 pages for ATWT by the next morning. After that she is arriving for her first day at work, and the other actors welcome her. Jennifer Ferrin told her she saw her audition and was rooting for her.



Alex plays Henry Colman's sister, and Henry's portrayer, Trent Dawson, "took me under his wing, and showed me all around."
