MARTHA BYRNE
A Mini-Biography from SoapNet
Martha Byrne describes Lily Snyder as always drawn to mysterious men with accents, and finding herself in major trouble like kidnappings and being left in wells. Pretty succinct description.
Martha was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, the youngest of four children. She came by acting naturally, coming from a long line of Irish story tellers. They would entertain themselves and each other, singing and dancing.
She was steered into acting at an early age, taking part in a Christmas play in elementary school. She would carry a sign out announcing the grade levels. At first, she walked across the stage, but by the time she was announcing the higher grades she was smiling and waving at the audience!!
She got an agent then, and made the rounds as a child actor. In 1979 she was cast in the huge Broadway hit "Annie." She said when you are 10 years old and on stage, it doesn't feel like a job, ever, and still doesn't.
