This interview took place on May 2, 2006.


He was wearing a t-shirt that said "Brooklyn" on it, and said it was to show comradery (Soap Talk is based in Los Angeles and ATWT is based in Brooklyn, New York)


Since Lisa Rinna was there he was asked about ballroom dancing. Ever since Lisa was on "Dancing with the Stars" we have been saddled with this. Anyway, he said he does some dancing (and singing) on Broadway. His first one was "Smokey Joe's Cafe" and everyone knew which one was him: "I was the white guy."


He loved doing that production. He met lots of stars, like Peggy Lee, when he was only 25.

He started ATWT in tandem with working on Broadway, and the first day Peter Parros (Ben Harris) walked him through everything, which helped him a lot. He laughingly volunteered here to be the person who chaperones the newbies. He said it's harder now to work that much, Broadway and ATWT, since he has kids: Christopher, 8, Kathleen, 6 and Annabelle, 2.

His Broadway work has included "Violet" and "Hello Again" (with Martin Short) but it takes time from his family, so he does less of it.

He was asked how he and Maura kept their performances so fresh, working so long together, and he said they "goof around a lot." Then he discoursed on Oakdale police work. Criminals get away with a lot... "it's so stupid. Barbara is running around free-how many wrong things has she done?"


"You have to look like a dope all the time. We're made to look like idiots." He was getting advice from Martha Byrne's (Lily Snyder) husband, a New York cop, until he broke his hip in a car chase and isn't around so much. He did go on some ride-alongs with a neighbor who's a cop. Once in awhile the neighbor tells him how sorry he is that the show made him say or do some particularily dumb thing.

Michael has been married for 10 years. They met when he was attending Nazareth College in Rochester, New York. He said they are perfect for one another as their families are so much alike and their upbringing is so similar. He is Italian/Catholic and Laurie is Irish/Catholic.



He displayed a tattoo on his ankle with a symbol and the names of his children. He said he thought it was Kanji, Japanese, but it is Korean, the character for "Father."
