Ellen came to this interview in t-shirt and jeans. The t-shirt said "I (heart with photo of Mr. Clean) Mr. Clean." She gave a very relaxed interview, to go with her housecleaning outfit.

The first question she was asked involved how difficult it might be to turn off emotion after a lot of heavy drama on the show all day. She said it is hard, and sometimes she starts crying at intersections. She sounded upbeat and matter of fact about it.

The conversation then changed to her most recent storyline, which happened to be the Doc seduction story. She said she wasn't real comfortable in their scenes because "I'm not a really glamorous person." I was surprised that she found this story glamorous in any way, shape or form. She discussed, with great pleasure, her discovery of the actor's muscles during the scenes.

She was asked the hardest thing about playing Margo, and she said it was learning how to handle the gun without looking dumb. She had training to learn how to use it, and roll with it, and make arrests with it, etc.

Host Ty Treadway mentioned that, after doing "a ton of theater work," her first soap role was as Maureen on Guiding Light. She said she "knew I would be on there," because she had watched it in college after a friend she went to school with in London got her started. She thought she should be in that Irish family (the Reardon's) and it would be good training in camera work.

She still does theater, and had recently appeared in something as an Elvis impersonator!! When asked, she told the host that she is almost 50, and "I don't do hip moves."

Her little girl was in the audience. She seldom takes her to work because "we're out in the middle of Brooklyn, and there's nothing there but bagels, and there's nothing for her to do!!" A very funny line, and well delivered. She was then asked to describe her "unconventional childbirth."

She said she's not a very good mom, and wasn't ready for any of this at all. She even had her legs waxed during the earliest stages of labor. But the story she was asked about was where her water broke while crossing 7th Avenue, as she pointed her tummy at the hospital, and her girlfriend was stopping traffic (illustrated in below photo) yelling "Stop, stop!! Pregnant woman crossing!!"

She was asked about being born in a small town in Iowa. She said she joined the Girl Scouts after a lot of asking. The Lutherans joined, Catholics didn't, but she won. She wanted to join to go to New York to Tiffany's. She was about 15 when they went. She was really disappointed that Broadway looked so ordinary and the streets weren't diamond or something.

The scouts were told they had an hour to shop, but they meant at Macy's where they left them. She went to Tiffany's. She asked a cop on the subway how to get there. She found out she couldn't afford Tiffany's but she HAD to find something for her mom. She went back to Macy's and met up with everyone else, and bought a Waterford Crystal vase for her mom.

They finished up the day in New York by taking the scouts to see The Shylights, who were the opening act for Ray Charles. Then they were supposed to leave. Ellen refused. She said no way was she going to be getting up and walking out on Ray Charles!! They told her they had to get back to the hotel, and she said she was not leaving that theater until Ray Charles was done!! And that's how Ellen Dolan got to see Ray Charles!!
