MASKING TUTORIAL
By Linda Cox
The image below has been created by a process called Masking. This is an extremenly easy process and is as boundless as your creativity. It is always a good idea to print or copy the instructions before beginning.
This is what your finished image will look like using the image and mask I have provided here.

Your image and mask should be the same size for the best coverage although it isn't necessary. If you need to resize your image you can do so at Image Magic and remember to put and ! after you resize. You may use the ones I have provided or you may find your own. The image and mask used here are 300x300 so there is no need to resize. To save time be sure you have the url to both your image and mask that you are going to use. What I do is take the url of the image and put it in the find box at the top of my keyboard so I can get it from there while I am at Image magick.
Take the MASK to Image Magick
Put the URL of the MASK in the box and CLICK ON VIEW
Now get the URL of the IMAGE you want to use
GO TO COMPOSITE
Put the URL of the IMAGE into the box
SETTING is CENTER
Scroll down and set COMPOSE to MULTIPLY
In the Box BLEND type in 100%
CHECK THE BOX
Scroll up a bit and click on COMPOSITE
Go to OUTPUT
Select SINGLE FILE OUTPUT
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!
I would like to thank Lois aka LoLo for her inspiration in making this tutorial. It was her original tutorial that turned me on to masking. Her masking site was lost when her host server went down. I can't thank her enough for her inspiration and help.
