In the previous 4 classes you have learned how to resize. composite, add a border, annotate, make a subdirectory, draw, and animate.
I will supply the background and picture for you to start with. You will need a homepage directory, where you will transload the picture to.
Okay, let's get started with the class...!
A. I have provided you with a white background. This background measures 200x300.
B. You will take your background to ImageMagick Studios. Input the background I have selected for you.
C. Click onto the Composite box on the top of the page in ImageMagick Studios. Return to mail to the picture.
D. You will need a picture that measure 190x250. I have provided one for you:
E. You will composite this picture into the center of the background. You do not have to change anything in Composite to do this, just put the url of the picture in and click on the composite button.
F. Now output your picture that you have composited on to the white background. Get the URL and then transload this to your account to use later.
A. You need to Input the white background I have selected again. Now it must measure 200x200. You will need to resize it to measure this size. Be sure to place an exclamation point (!) after the size, like this: 200x200!, because otherwise Image Magick will keep the dimensions proportional.
B. After the background measures 200x200. Click on Draw at the top of the page in ImageMagick Studios. You will be drawing a circle in the middle of your background.
C. Put the Primitive box: circle. The measurement in the Coordinates: box must read +100+100 +40+40. The Fill: box put none and the Stroke: box put #FFEC8B and the Linewidth: box put 2 and do not touch anything else. Now click on draw and you will have a nice round thin line in the middle of your background..
D. Now you are in view again, choose Draw again and click on it. Put the Primitive: box on circle. The measurement in the Coordinates: box must read +100+100 +36+36. The Fill: box put none and the Stroke: box put #000000 and the Linwidth: box put 6 and do not touch anything else. Now click onto draw and you will have 2 nice round thin lines in the middle of your background.
(the more frames you want, keep repeating #D, change the color, coordinates and linewidth). If you put another frame around the circle, the coordinates would be: +100+100+24+24 (to account for the width of the line you just drew).
E. Now you are in view again. Under your image there is a drop down box that says Paint Type:. Click on it and go to matte and click again. Then click on the images of your background. You will get an arrow that points in the middle of your background inside the circle you drew on it. Leave the arrow in the middle of the circle and click again.
F. Now you have a clear circle in the center of your background. If you wanted to make a round frame, stop here. To make an oval frame, resize the background to measure 200x300!. Don't forget the ! (exclamation point).
G. Output your background with the Oval in the center. Get the URL and then transload this to your account to use later.
Note: When I tried this at Image Magick, the matte capability wasn't working; the center did not become transparent. Therefore it was necessary to take the gif to Gif Works to make the center transparent. But, at Gif Works, if you have the center of the circle and the outside of the circle both white, they will both be made transparent because they are the same color; therefore it is necessary to color the inside of the circle another color. I colored the inside of the circle green and then output it as a gif. At the output page, click on the image, copy the URL (press "go to", "show last" and Cmd+a to highlight, then Cmd+c to copy. then go to Gif Works and if necessary, paste the URL in the space provided.) Press the "Effects" button, scroll down and select "Transparify". Click on the image shown which will move the arrow to the center of the circle, press "Return" and the center of the circle will be made transparent. Select "Save" and on the next page scroll down to "webtv click here". Transload the image to your server.
A. Now you need to input the background with the picture on it. Click on the Composite tab at the top of the page.
B. Now put the url of the background with the circle in it and you do not have to touch anything else and now click onto composite.
C. Now you have a nice picture with a white frame around it. You are in view now and there is a drop down box under your picture, that says color. Click on that drop down box, then click on matte. Go up to the picture and click on it and you will get an arrow in the center again. This time move the arrow to the white frame around the picture and click again. Now you have a oval picture.
D. Output your Oval GIF. Get the URL and transload to your account. This is what it should look like: ovalflowers.gif
You have completed the class.
Placing a premade frame on your oval gif:
1. Transload this to your account.
2. Using the Oval GIF you made in the first Making a Round/Oval GIF Class.
3. Input your Oval GIF into Image Magick.
4. Click on Composite at the top of the page.
5. Composite the frame on top of the Oval GIF.
6. Output and transload to your account.
It should look like this. Now you know everything I know about making Oval/Round GIFs.
