My name is George aka George From Brooklyn or George The Greek. I purchased Webtv 1997. At this time the main newsgroup to show your homepage was news:alt.discuss.homepage. This group was a click and when my friend Mary From Long Island would post there we would get ignored. We decided to start a newsgroup for home pages that would treat everyone fairly. We picked the name news:alt.discuss.homepage.opinion. We got enough votes to start the group. People could post their homepages and our members would give their honest opinion of them. Once a month we would give the best one an award . Even though Mary and I left the group I am very proud of the group. Today homepage ng is down to almost 50 posts HPO thanks to its dedicated staff is alive and well. I would like to thank HPO for picking me as poster of the month
