Christmas 1997 was when I became addicted. I didn't know it then when I held my first keyboard in my hand and wrote an email. The first seven months there wasn't much time to play on the web. My time was taken up with caring for my 26 year old Special Needs daughter and a Special Needs Foster Daughter.
Then.......July 6th, 1998, my daughter Mindi died unexpectly. There are many webpages out there about Mindi if you are to read. My domain is mindismom.
So. Here I was. In a blink of an eye I went from a full day to an empty day. (After a year the Foster Daughter moved on) I turned to the web for comfort. I found a Grief NG. Someone emailed me from webtv with a signature. (I remember it was a Christmas one.) Thus began my second addiction.
I was drivin with a desire to learn html so I could make webpages of Mindi. For me it was therapy. I found the Mallrats html group. (Now gnubees) I spent several years there learning.
One and a half years after I got my first Classic I got my first plus. Another addiction developed. My webpages consisted of my photos and my love of my life........my Yorkshire Terrier, Fifi.
Two years ago I saw one of my "beautiful" pictures of Fifi on a computer. I was heartbroken. The quality was bad. Then my Step Cousin showed me how he used a card reader to download a picture from a digital camera. I felt two more bugs bite. Within 6 months I had a Digital Camera. A year later a bought a Mac from my brother and he gave me a crash course in learning how to work it.
So here I am, October of 2004. I'm sitting at my webtv (the Mac is only for photos!) writing my story as I watch the first game of the World Series. I love, helping people, making people laugh, photography, making webpages, my place in Arizona, my little dog and sometimes my hubby of 29 years.
I want to end with a specil thanks to my best friend whom I met online and lead me to HPO. When Margie and I first emailed we found we lived in the same city. We couldn't IM fast enough and ended up talking on the phone. The things we had it common were uncanny. I said there were socks flying thru the air because it kept knocking our socks off. The strangest one is she had moved to Port Orchard 6 months before me and before that we had both lived in Redmond for 30 some years!
