Greetings HPO'rs

Well...... (and attention all you Joel Mcreay impersonators..........) "Spring is bustin' out all over." That seemingly being dependent on just where YOU are. Many of you have been experiencing voluminous sunshine and downright hot temperatures while some (like me) are shivering at night as the furnace tries to decide weather to come on or not, flowers still may need blanketing for frost protection and it rains every other day up to 3 to 4 inches.

Just put the cost of a pepperoni pizza short of a grand into our fuel oil tank. As General Patton once said..... "My men can eat their belts, but my tanks have gotta have gas."

And now...... For something completely different. I was just announced as a runner-up in the county-wide Library Associations annual short story in 6 words contest. (Inspired by Ernie Hemmingway) Which gives me bragging rights and a place at the runners-up awards banquet table for a dinner of which, the invitation did not use the term "complementary" in it's text anywhere. Oh! the winning short story?

"I gave love. She took it."

Right away you can see by my use of convoluting innuendos how it had to inspired by Ernie.

I'm doing better since my stroke but the Dr, says I'll never play the violin at concert level. So I'm going back to the washboard where I feel familiar. The jokes on him anyhoo because I never could pay the violin at all. Ha!.

I hope everone had a nice Mother's Day and an equably enjoyable Father's Day for which I have been hasseling my daughter for a year for a gold Father's Day ring with DAD on it. She says.... "You'll shoot your eye out!" Well maybe next year. If my memory gets any worse, she can just tell me I got it.

Well bye for now. We appreciate you new members posting on the old HPO board and Welcome. The 10th HPO Reunion is almost upon us. Keep tuned and please get a little memory ready to share with the members during our "Open House".

Thanks everyone.

Bruce.

Well, spring has come and gone (only two weeks?) and we are now in our first heat wave of the summer. Time for beaches, surfing, barbeques and piņa coladas:-)

It was disappointing that New York's Big Brown did not get to win the triple crown. It is not an easy feat to accomplish - it hasn't been done since 1978.

I'm getting ready for HPO's Flag Day and Father's Day parades, and the Fourth of July will be coming soon after that. Then we will truly be enjoying (suffering?) the "dog days" of summer. I hope you all stay cool.

I'm going to get myself some iced tea:-)

Hi to all the members and to all the lurkers. (We know you are peeking).

Hope everyone had a good Spring. AH!! Summer!! With fresh blueberries, strawberries, peaches, watermelon and cantelope. Don't forget the tomatoes and backyard barbeques. Yum! Yum!. Just can't wait.

Since I had a big vacation last year will not be doing one this time. Anyone else planning a vacation? If so bring back pictures.

I wish to thank all of you that have participated in the sig parades we have had. You do great work. The upcoming ones are Father's Day, Flag Day and the 4th. Let's all do our Fathers and our Country proud.

The Reunion will be something very special. Rusty and Mary are working on this with me. Please start thinking of your very special HPO moments, as we wll be asking that question. Also, we will be hearing from some of the oldies that have moved on to PC's. They have been very instrumental in putting HPO together.

Don't forget to SUBMIT your sites!!

Now for an ice cold pepsi

Greetings Otter Minions;

Starting to gather a few things together for the upcoming jaunt to Tunisia with Janice. Got everything in for the passport. Converting a few "Otter Bucks" to Euros and the rest to Deaners (SP?). Have to bring back a camel of some sort for Seaweed since he had to stay home. (Maybe next trip?).

Hope Mother's Day went alright for those whose memories may be too much to bear. Father's Day this month. Congrats all you Dads out there. Being a Dad can be a hard but rewarding job also.

The next "Big Doings" on the HPO agenda is the upcoming HPO 10th Anniversary and Reunion. We hope to hear from some of our most original of members right up to those who have just signed on. Get ready to submit at the "HPO REUNION" site anything that floats your boat. A picture from way back? Memories of HPO? Web-TV stories? We have contacted some former members who went strictly to PC but still have that spot in their heart for HPO and many will be submitting something to be posted along with everybody else's, so we are hoping it should be great fun. Even the Otter contingent has something and will make our World-Famous Lemonade for guests along with our secret ingredient.

To give you an idea..... Seaweed and I have pulled an early photo from the office files of the first group of young ladies who back then were vying in keen competition for the first HPO Secretarial posting.

Let's ALL help make the Reunion as successful as we can.

Until next time then.

Norman and the raft.
