AUNT EDIE'S POETRY ~ Chapter 4

Poem #22

"IRONY"

What lordly privilege is ours,
to leave good food on the plates
and hurry off to amuse ourselves,
while half the world starving,waits.©

....Poem #23

"REMINDER"

THIS MUCH IS LEFT NOW
OF ALL I REMEMBER:
A FEW LITTLE MEMORIES OF
TIMES WHEN WE KISSED
THIS THEN IS THE BALANCE,
THE PAINFUL REMINDER
THAT NEVER FOR ANYTHING
WOULD I HAVE MISSED.©

Poem #25

I Found this little ditty on an old antique toothpick holder that AUNT EDIE had painted as a gift for her Brother and Sister-inlaw, ROY AND LEE.

Edith's married name was Goebel.

..................."PICKS".......

Do to an odd chain
of circumstances
more or less noble
Dear Roy and Lee,
I've learned
to be quite foxy
So if you chance
to meet someone
who's hot at Mrs Goebel,
Please let him
take his "PICKS"
on me by proxy......©

Poem # 26

"Remote"

There might be just cause for
argument between thee and me––
But I've reached a last conclution
Wherein we can agree;
How lost the man ––in his––
Ah–-shall we say––duplicity––?
Who seeks to biuld a fence
around a helpless little tree.!

Poem #27

"ALIEN"
Our worlds are farther apart
than the earth and the stars above
Yet our hearts beat close –– in unison
Foreigh in all ––save love

Remote incentivies––linked by our arms
welded thus––became one and the same
Alien souls–we two–spanning the gulf
with our Love––and a name
