Michael Easton and Trevor St. John, of One Life to Live, presented the Lead Actress emmy. Crystal Chappell was included in the nominees for her performance as Olivia on GL. Maura West took the honors. This was her second win in seven nominations since joining the show in 1995.

She was accompanied by her daughter Catherine, who was superb as her mother's escort, and gave her her celebratory kiss, then watched with tears of joy.





     
Maura: "Oh, my gosh. Thank you so much. Everyone I work with knows how... boy Michael Park winning.. enough for me... what a treat!! Catherine, come here."

     
Catherine came onto the stage with poise and quietly stood by her mother, still in tears. Maura: "To honor me this way in the presence of one of my children is more than I can bear."

     
Maura thanked Chris Goutman, Carol Shore, Vivian Gundraker, "CBS, my friends and loved ones, I can't stand it. My children Benjamin, Joseph, Catherine, Basil and Birdie; Catherine and I will curtsy for them. Thank you."
