![]() Life is plugging along. You come home after a particularly long grueling day. You are tired, hurting, fed up with your life, and feeling more than a little hopeless about your future. You are thinking to yourself that life will never be better than this. You will never feel better, never have more, never this, never that. ~Sigh~ Life stinks with a capital "S". You want nothing more than to crawl into your bed and hide under a blanket. As you enter your bedroom you spot it...... Right there coiled smack dab in the middle of your bed....your much desired solace from life...is a big old Rattle snake! What would you do? You would call someone to help...call 911..call animal control...call a neighbor...get a gun to shoot it....you'd do something...you wouldn't just leave it there. You would not take your eyes off the snake for fear that it would get away and you would be in danger that it would strike at you, and fill you with it's poison. You would move heaven and earth to get rid of that snake! Your negative thoughts, your hopelessness is that snake. They are equally as dangerous and poisonous to your soul. Just as you would not ignore the snake, don't ignore the thoughts. You must get rid of them. Cleanse your body, your home, of this danger, this poison. In Philippians 4:8; God said, "Think on things that are pure, things that are lovely, things that are wholesome, things that are true, things that are honest, things that are of good report;" Think on things that build you up not on the negative things around you. Proverbs 23:7 says, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." You can't live a positive life with a negative mind. The snake, your negative self defeating thoughts, distort your view of yourself, and of your life. When the poison of negative thoughts enter your mind, attack it, and get it out of your life. Talk back to it. Ask yourself if the thought is really true. Replace the "I can't" with "I can." I am sure there are things that you can't do, or can't change. Put your mind on what you can. Say, "I may not be able to _____ but, I can _____." I Peter 5:7 says "Cast those worries, cares, fears; cast them on God because he cares for you" Cast away that snake and lean on the promises of God. Guard your thoughts, your mind. Negative thoughts will poison you. What you think, you will feel and become. Every time you have a defeating thought, think of it as a snake and throw it away from you. Keep your thoughts on the positive in your life. Turn to God. Live in peace and joy.
