This biography originally appeared on SoapNet in 2006. At the time Austin was back on "Days of Our Lives" after having been off it for three years.

He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 9, 1971. In 1979, his parents divorced and his mother moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of a movie career. Austin thought they would live in a movie studio, and was very disappointed to see Hollywood, and how dirty and ordinary it really is.

Being the new kid at school was hard for him, and he had trouble making friends. "The biggest struggle for me was fitting in, and still is, wanting to be better than what I have going on in my own life and that may be some of my motivation in becoming an actor."

Because of these problems, Austin found school torturous, and states emphatically how much he hated school.
