"Is It You?"

The purpose of this site is to present my personal tribute to
the most romantic love story ever filmed.

The original book:
"Bid Time Return"
by Richard Matheson, has been transformed into a movie that will remain in your memory forever. The music is so completely haunting that it will give you a lump in your throat everytime you hear it.

"Come Back To Me"

Those words spoken by a little old lady as she places a gold watch in Richard's hand will haunt you and cause a chill as the meaning of them becomes evident. They, along with the expression; "Is it you?" and the portrait below will have special meanings after you see the movie. I recommend that you see it with someone very special.

"Elise"

While visiting the Grand Hotel on Macinack Island in 1972, Richard first see's this portrait of Elise McKenna from 1912, and he instantly falls in love.

He becomes obsessed with her and actually will's himself back in time to be with her. Their first meeting, somewhere in time, takes place along a tree lined lake shore where she asks in a whispered breathless gasp;

"Is it you?"

"Richard & Elise"

The choice of Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour to portray the leads in this movie was brilliant casting. His "Richard Collier" is believable from the first.

There's no hint of "Superman" to cloud the character as he roams in the present or travels in the past.

Jane is at the epitome of her striking beauty as "Elise McKenna".

Every moment she is present is memorable as her beauty overwhelms you. She fits the time period perfectly. The costumes frame her in every scene as she portrays the stage actress on the rise. Her soliloquy* on stage is one of the most incredibly beautiful and believable moments describing one's deepest feelings of love.

The moment when the portrait is photographed, captures that instant when someone sees the person they love unexpectedly appear, and that special secret smile envelops their face with a special aura.

I don't want to spoil the beauty of this movie by revealing any more. So please invite someone special to share this experience with you.
An extra box of tissues might be in order.

Elise's Soliloquy

"The man of my dreams has almost faded now.
The one I have created in my mind.
The sort of man each woman dreams of in the deepest
and most secret reaches of her heart.
I can almost see him now before me.
What would I say to him, if he were really here?
Forgive me, I have never known this feeling . . .
I've lived without it all my life.
Is it any wonder, then, that I failed to
recognize you?
You . . . who brought it to me for the first time.
Is there any way I can tell you how my life has changed?
Any way at all to let you know what sweetness you have given me?
There is so much to say . . . I cannot find the words.
Except for these. . .
I love you.
Such would I say to him,
. . . if he were really here."

While I'm at it here are the words to the beautiful theme music:

Somewhere in time, we met on timeless hills...
and in the evening midst we kissed, and time stood still;

Before the dawn, we found forever...
moments are timeless when I feel your caress;

Love never goes...once it has touched your heart...
just like a scent of wine, that's left as two lips part;

A taste of love will linger after...
I'll find the meaning now in all that I see;

You're always here inside of me and...
I know when love is true, it's always with you;

Somewhere in time, I came to realize
LOVE NEVER GOES AWAY...

A special Collector's Edition DVD or VHS version, celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the movie, is available.
