Ghosts

Do you believe? Have you ever had the experience of some really strange and bizarre happening that you can not explain? Have you ever encountered a ghost or what we perceive to be a ghost. No. don't be silly, I don't mean some spectral being all decked out in a nice 1000-thread count Egyptian cotton sheet (never muslin).

Wake Up!
It was back in October of 1981... I went on a cruise with some friends ... ok ok ok ... it was what was commonly called a 'booze cruise' and heh, I don't drink! It was a horrible night, weather-wise, as it was raining and in the Boston area during that time of year, especially if out on a ship in the harbor somewhere, it gets a tad chilly and the rain makes for one damp evening. I caught a cold. I was so sure it was just a simple cold ... little did I know that the dread bacterium, pneumococcus, had a hold on me. Everyday I found it harder to drag myself from bed to go to work ... I just wanted to burrow deep into the blankets and stay warm and snuggy ... always so cold. At work, I kept my coat on ... and I had cut the finger tips out of a pair of gloves so I could still use the keyboard on my computer ... I think it might have been the brightly colored scarf that I wore while huddled over my little desk that drew everyones' attention ... bright yellow, blue, green, purple, and red stripes ... but gee, it matched my leg warmers and finger-tip-less gloves so being totally fashion conscious, I had to wear it.
It was a Tuesday evening when I was "visited". I had fallen asleep on the sofa under a pile of blankets while trying to watch the telvision thru my blurred vision. I heard my name spoken ... "Sandra" ... oh groan, it was my mom... only she said my name like that! "Sandra, you have to wake up" I answered her with a flat "No" ... does anyone know what I mean when I say "twilight sleep"? That place between sleep and being awake ... that's where I was at the time and I just wanted to drift back into total sleep where I no longer coughed up droplets of blood. And again, that voice ... "Sandra, wake up now" ... and again I heard myself answer her, "But I don't want to, I'm so tired." .... whoaaaaaaa, my mom slapped me across the face and said,"You have to wake up now or you will be dead by morning."
My mom passed away the 29th of March 1978 from a brain tumor ... this was now November of 1981 ... and I had double viral pneumonia and the doctors told me when I went to the hospital that I probably would have died in my sleep it had progressed so far.
Thank you, mom. I love you and miss you very much.
