What Do You Do?

What do you do
that makes me forget my troubles?
One word spoken
to me
relieves the tension in my body,
allowing me to be careless.
What do you do
that soothes my soul,
calming the waters
that my heart rides upon?
Allowing a breath of fresh air
to enter my lungs,
finally … breathing.
My mind wanders
in the green fields
that you create.
The gentle wind
blowing
across my face,
pointing me toward the sun.
Giving me the strength
to push forward
to continue the journey
that is weighing down upon me.
I’m thankful for this reprieve.
Thankful for you
being able to give it to me
even though you may not realize.
What do you do?
If it is a secret
I understand…
I’ll hold it to my breast,
never letting it go.
Never letting you go.
