The Biosphere Project

I turned on the wall projector and selected the northwest view. It showed part of the agricultural domes and the stark moon landscape. It was completely dark out. The stars were crystal clear without the atmosphere to block the view, an astronomer's paradise. I brought my amateur telescope/camera combo to view the stars and take pictures of them.

I knew that I'd probably never be able to afford to come back. The North American government helps supplement the first trip for every citizen, because they feel that it's good for everyone to have this experience. This is especially true now, because the population, though stabilized, is straining the resources of the earth. It is vital that some people are willing to relocate to other world colonies in the near future. These trips will hopefully interest some people into moving to the moon or beyond as other colonies are developed.

I have always wondered if there was other intelligent life out there. We haven't had any concrete evidence as yet. There were a few radio waves that could be interpreted as patterned, but they were brief and non-recurring.

I saw a message on the video/phone. It said "you've got message from home". So, I pressed the "talk" button. My parents and my sister were calling to ask how my trip was. I said it went well and that it was much more exciting than I expected. I told them that I have 3 days until I start my vacation job. I opted for 15 hours a week, which was a lot for a working vacation, but certainly a lot less than the usual 30 hours a week.

Everyone is required to spend a minimum of 8 hours a week studying new technology. They may arrange their study schedule in any way they wish. Changes are taking place so fast that it takes a lot of preparation just to keep up the technology.
