I came into port at Lunar 5 district. The moon colony was in its infancy. The construction crew landed first. Then the hardy pioneers, who were then trained in survival techniques arrived next. They were the first to try living in the modular habitats to see that everything was functioning properly. The third crew were the agriculturalists and biologist sent to start the terra forming process. The last waves of people were the new residents coming to stay for an extended period of time and tourists wanting to experience life in space.





The Biosphere Project




It was so exciting to see the new modular structures and new agricultural facility. It would take about 50 years to fully terra form the moon to the point where people could leave their structures without thermal guards and air supplement masks. The crops were still protected by plastic domelike structures.

I walked through the teleport and saw many different kinds of people from all over the earth. Everyone was required to learn English before being allowed a passcard to the moon. It's important in such a small colony that we can all communicate and since the North American Sector sponsored a large portion of this colony we had the ruling vote as to the language spoken there.

Canada and the United States had become the United States of North America 30 years ago. Our cultural and economic interests had become so intertwined that both country's leader's agreed that it was in the best interest of both our countries to merge into one country. It was a quiet and almost expected event. Then, 10 years ago the world federation was voted in as the first world government.
