Wives Wing - Dorothy Epps

Dorothy Epps
Wife of Ed Epps
I enjoyed being a stay at home wife and mother, until our daughters were in high school.

I went to work after both of our girls were grown up enough to take care of things around the house during the evenings after school. I worked for the State of Tennessee Treasury Department, for 23 years, and I retired in 1998.

Now, I enjoy working in my flower garden, doing volunteer work for our church and other activities.

A Story of TDY Homecoming
By Dorothy Epps

There are so many wonderful memories and events that happened while we were in the military, so I will tell just one that still comes to mind for me. When the 68th went to Harman AFB, Newfoundland, in 1958, our oldest daughter, Sandie was ten months old. When the guys returned to Bunkerhill AFB, Indiana three months later she was 13 months old. When we went to the base to pick Ed up, she did not remember him and would not let him hold her. On the way home she sat on the edge of his knees and stared at him all the way. When we got home Ed was going to give me a big hug and kiss but Sandie wanted no part of him being that close to her mom, so she got between us and pushed as hard as she could on his legs trying to get him away from me.

After a little while had passed he presented her with a new tricycle he had brought her from Newfoundland for her birthday, so she warmed up to him rather quickly. See the pictures below of her enjoying her new tricycle. Of course she's all grown up now, and is the webmaster for the 68th!
