HISTORICAL REVIEW OF THE
372ND INFANTRY BATTALION
AND 372ND MAINTENANCE COMPANY 1SG RICHARD C.
DAVIS
Ohio has
revitalized its interest in history and the historic preservation
of the lineage and heritage of its past military
organizations.
During a recent review of historical documents, it was determined
that the recently re- designated units are located in Willoughby,
Ohio.
The 372nd Maintenance Company with detachments in Medina, Ohio
"Detachments 1" and "Detachment 2" in Ashtabula, Ohio, had a more
prestigious lineage and honors than the recently reorganized 214
Maintenance Company.
Its service to the State and to the Nation throughout its history
the awards and honors its members have won speaks for its self.
In addition, the 372nd Maintenance Company is distinguished as
being historically a African American unit-372nd Infantry
Battalion of the Ohio National Guard, whose history is documented
in the Adj, Generals Office in Columbus, Ohio.
The lineage and honors earned by this organization provides a
heritage in battle that any organization would be proud to claim.
It also graphically demonstrates to our currently assigned
citizen soldiers defense of our nation during times of national
stress throughout our countries history.
